Memphis Officer Martin allegedly pulled a gun on two young men 3 years ago, threatened to shoot them

EMPHIS, Tenn. — Two residents of this city, which is still in a state of shock, have told NBC News that one of the former police officers charged with murdering Tyre Nichols, 29, pulled a gun on them three years ago and threatened to shoot them both in the face. Nichols was 29 years old at the time of his death, according NBC.

Just a few days after the department released police body camera and surveillance videos of Nichols’ arrest, which sparked angry protests against police violence in Memphis and across the country, Glenn Harris, 24, and Demarius Hervey, 27, described their violent encounter with a former Memphis Police Officer Emmitt Martin III. Harris and Hervey’s account of the incident came just days after the department released the videos.
